Gifts Spread Christmas Cheer for Older Patients

The team at Principle Care homes based in Billericay have been busy individually wrapping 168 gifts sets that they gave to elderly people spending this Christmas in Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.

It’s the second time that Principle Care Homes’ charity committee have gifted to the Care of the Elderly wards at the hospital to help spread some Christmas cheer and joy.

The patients were delighted by the surprise gifts of Baylis & Harding five-piece toiletry sets personalised for men or women so they could enjoy knowing that someone is thinking about them at this time.

Principle Care Homes managing director Ashish Goyal said: “We spent a lovely and heartwarming morning with the hospital team and the patients and handed out 168 gifts. We were so glad we were able to spread a little festive cheer.

“We know that a Christmas present can make all the difference to help boost wellbeing, especially for people staying in hospital over the festive period, which can be a lonely time for many. A gift helps them feel they are not alone.

“With the impending opening of our Broomfield Village Care Home this year, which has a mission to make everyone feel special and cared for, our community work is an important part of what we do.”

Clair Dade, fundraising co-ordinator at Mid and South Essex Hospitals Charity, added: “Thank you so much to Principle Care Homes, who have chosen to donate Christmas gifts to our Care of The Elderly wards at Broomfield Hospital.

“A stay in hospital can be very daunting for our older patients so receiving a gift boosts their spirits and will improve their stay at this festive time of year.”

Mid & South Essex Hospitals Charity is the official NHS charity providing support to Broomfield, Basildon & Southend Hospitals, as well as smaller community-based sites.

Founded by siblings Ashish and Nisha Goyal, Principle Care Homes is to launch its first home, Broomfield Village, in Chelmsford in 2024.
